Scott Jaster,
Artist

Creating Organic Excellence
Furniture sculptor Scott Jaster balances aesthetics and function to produce
practical, elegant art. He transforms oak trees into thrones buffed to a
velvety finish. Chunks of walnut wood become leaf-thin, high-sided bowls. Even a
craggy rhododendron twig encases a pen.
In addition to creating fine furniture from his own design, Mr. Jaster can
work with his clients' imaginations and budgets to construct custom commissions.
While comfort is of utmost importance, Mr. Jaster manages to retain the
organic form of each exquisite piece.
About the Artist
Mr. Jaster was born in Chicago, the fourth of seven children, in 1955. He
grew up fascinated by nature, and closely studied the ways forms grow and erode.
Many of his design themes echo those processes.
Charmed by the Olympic Peninsula's waters, mountains and trees, he moved to
Port Townsend in July, 1995.
